it is the wrong call if its the back of the head and the fighter is not out the ref has to separate them and ask the fighter if he wants to continue and he is clearly trying to hit the side of the head wrong call and mario handled it wrong
The official rules are that the back of the head is just a "mohican" strip, therefore almost all of the blows are legal. That said there was one that was not. IMHO rule it a no contest and have a rematch. Interesting that in the same night Vitor Belfort landed what looked like a number of blows to the back of Anthony Johnson’s head and the ref did nothing.
this ufc event was about how much brasilian cock ufc could swallow. don’t get me wrong, most brasilian fighters won at 142 without a doubt, but watch all the fights and listen to all the comments and see how UFC wanted to win the hearts of BRASIL.
Yamasaki was yelling "Don’t hit the back of the head," several times, and since the fighter was KO’d in the process and one or two hit the back of the head above the neck a couple more times he made the right call. If the guy didn’t get knocked out, then he would have stopped the fight and just taken a point away. But the ref made the right call because you can’t win by blows to the back of the head after you’ve warned. Good call, but I can see the other side too and being a UFC refis hard work. Have you guys seen that chick ref from Strikeforce? She’s the bomb! She gives people a very lengthy opportunity to defend themselves.
it’s clear as day what happened here: Erik silva douche-rushed Prater, all the weigh fell on Carlo’s shoulder(unless he was acting) and he dislocated that shit. erik began to hammerfist with an occasional forearm smash to the back of carlo’s head. that coupled with a hammerfist to the ear threw his equilibrium off. Prater was NOT in the wrong trying to counter Erik’s unsporstsman like 1 day bjj-er bum rush with a single leg takedown attempt. it was however maybe poor planning and knowledge in the gym and a spur of the moment caught by surprise. it pisses me off when people justify Erik’s bum rush attack as a legit fighting strategy and blame Prater as wrestlers putting their head on harms way on purpose.
That was bullshit and so is sherdog.
